Forging.

Forging is a cold or hot process for forming solid parts by using an impact tool on a dedicated mold. The connecting pieces on full-suspension MTB frames are usually forged when mass produced. Forged pieces display improved mechanical performance compared to CNC parts, and the method is widely used in the bicycle industry, particularly for elements requiring high resistance and reliability (cranks, stems… ) . It is also a process that can save machining time and reduce material costs. Forged pieces can be re-machined to improve aesthetics, and the final appearance further sublimated by anodizing.
